We need to get better at this blogging lark - it’s the middle of February already and we’re still catching up on last year! We promise to do better in 2012….
Maddy & Daniel’s beautiful Winter wedding at Oulton Hall in Leeds was our last of 2011 and what a note to finish on! It was one of those perfect Winter days for a wedding – ok, so no snow – but it was bright, crisp and colourful. And oh so cold.
Maddy got ready at her parents’ house and the atmosphere was incredible. It had everything a wedding morning needs: lots of people, little ones running around, champagne, queue outside the bathroom and lots of excited banter – plus, at this time of year, a very festive feel. Christmas weddings are simply fabulous. It’s a happy time of year anyway, but add a wedding into the mix and it takes on a whole new feel! Watch out for Zach, Maddy & Daniel’s little boy, one of the cutest page boys ever!
Time to leave for church – CAREFULLY – freezing temperatures had left the cul-de-sac covered in black ice. Luckily it was only a short trip to the church and a lovely, touching service which Zach slept all the way through!
And finally off to the Reception. So it’s just above freezing – Maddy & Daniel though do not want to miss out on having the top rolled down on their car and then are brave enough for a jaunt around the grounds for some couple portraits! Hardy folks. Oulton Hall is an amazing venue for wedding photographs, with both the grounds and the interior offering tons of options. We finally got them into the warmth though for some more bride and groom photos before leaving them to their guests. The speeches were some of the funniest we’ve heard. Both Maddy and Daniel are apparently notoriously disorganised and true to form, Daniel handed out thank you cards to some of the key people who had helped make the day such a success – unwritten and still in their original packaging. That takes some beating and was very funny. Oh – and Zach slept all the way through the speeches as well! Finally the party got underway in the evening with some impressive moves all round, particularly from Maddy and the girls (young and younger)!
Thanks to Maddy and Daniel, and their families, for letting us be a part of such a special occasion. We felt very welcome. R&C x
