Easter weekend saw us arriving in the Derbyshire hills amongst patches of early Spring snow for Rachel & James’ gorgeous wedding. Rachel was getting ready at the Reception venue – the lovely Maynard Hotel overlooking stunning Peak District countryside – and I had such a fun morning! The atmosphere was amazing with bridesmaids and family popping the champagne corks and the flower girls jumping up and down with excitement. Watch out for Rachel’s stunning Justin Alexander dress from Ava Rose Hamilton. Meanwhile Caroline was capturing the preparations over at James’ Mum’s house in Dronfield with best man, groomsmen and the cutest pageboy – Arthur – where everything seemed decidedly calmer than over at the Maynard….
….where emotions were running high and there were a few last minute tears and deep breaths before Rachel, Dad and the bridesmaids headed off in style to the church in a VW Beetle and Camper Van provided by Little Limos.
The service was beautiful, and after much congratulating & confetti we set off for the bride and groom portrait photos. From soon after we met them, Rachel & James had talked about stopping off and doing their photos at a well know beauty spot in the Peak District called “Surprise View” – which is exactly what we did. Rachel swapped high heels for Ugg boots to get up onto the rocks, surrounded by patches of snow, and we had a view to die for. The conditions underfoot were very tricky and we are so impressed by Rachel and James’ determination to see the plan though. It was well worth it. A special mention for the amazing bridal bouquet produced by Catherine at Petalis in Sheffield.
Back at the Maynard we did some fun group shots of family and friends out on the lawn before the wedding breakfast was served. The wedding breakfast room was decorated by Rachel & James with THE most amazing taste and attention to detail. Fabulous favours, a beautiful colour scheme and the walls decked with photos from their past. The speeches were lovely, funny and very, very moving in places. We particulalry enjoyed the array of photographs produced of James in younger days documenting his various fashion phases. We’ve all been there James….
The evening saw one of the most inventive dance routines we’ve seen for a while – a “lonley hearts” roleplay danced to the Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody”. A class act!
A heartfelt thank-you to a very special couple, Rachel & James, for letting us into such a wonderful occasion. They have since been on a veritable world tour for their honeymoon including a 15,000 foot skydive over New Zealand and they look AMAZING. Here are some final images from the Reception:
